Reverse Osmosis Water Purifier

Reverse Osmosis (RO), not to be confused with standard filtration methods, allows the separation of dissolved salts and most other impurities from water by means of membrane filtration. Reverse Osmosis removes up to 98% of all dissolves contaminants within the water source. The result is fresh super clean water free of salts, and the vast majority of possible pathogens eliminated. Starting off using RO water will reduce grower problems dramatically! While the initial investment may seem high, it is soon justified by the reliability and continual high quality output of fresh, clean water.

The sizes available range from the compact 200 litre per day unit up to the massive 32,000 litres per day unit! But easily our most popular units in the hobby market are the 200 and 400 litre per day models. They are both easily fitted directly on to a standard threaded tap, without the need for any special plumbing or electrical setups.

How it works.

Reverse Osmosis units work in three stages.

Stage 1 - Sedimentary Pre-Filtration - the 1st vertical cartridge

Removes dirt, silt, rust algae and colloidal mess.

Stage 2 - Carbon Block Pre-Filtration - the 2nd vertical cartridge

Removal of Chemical contaminants such as chlorine and chloramine.

Stage 3 - Reverse Osmosis Membrane - horizontal cartidge(s)

This stage removes the salts. The membranes separate the feed water into two streams of water. One stream is clean, filtered water, and the other is waste water.

Pythoff

Pythoff
Hydroponic System Sterilizing Agent

Pythoff is a broad spectrum disinfecting agent that will sterilise your entire hydroponic system to ensure maximum plant performance all year round.

  • Pythoff is based on monochloramine - a proven and trusted drinking water disinfectant used world wide. Monochloramine's popularity is based on the fact that it is a non toxic and long lived disinfectant. Being a long lived disinfectant is beneficial for hydroponics because this enables complete system disinfection - from the nutrient tank all the way through to the plant's roots. This property is not possessed by other disinfectants such as ozone and UV, simply because these agents do not form a stable residual disinfecting chemical in your nutrient solution.
  • Pythoff is non systemic and therefore it can be used throughout the fruiting period.
  • Pythoff will not destroy trace element chelates - unlike UV and OZONE.
  • Pythoff has an indefinite shelf life. This allows predictable and consistent dose rates unlike products such as liquid chlorine.
  • Pythoff has multiple uses - sterilising active systems, sterilising system hardware between crops and pre sterilising system 'make-up' water.

Available in two strengths;

  • 10g/L for home growers - available in 500ml, 1 Litre & 5 Litre (Dose rate 1 to 2ml per 10 Litres)
  • 25g/L for commercial growers - available in 20 Litre (Dose rate 40 to 80ml per 1000 Litres)

Hydroponic systems vary with respect to the bacteriological quality of the raw water used, general attention to hygiene, etc.

Further, as the recycling nutrient solution ages there will be an accumulation of root deposits, algae, slimes, etc.

Under these conditions a higher than normal Pythoff dose is required to achieve effective disinfection and therefore the recommended dose, which is based on a reasonably sterile system, is often too low. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you occasionally use the 'Pythoff Test Kit' to check whether the standard recommended dose rate is correct or otherwise for your system.

NOTE: this kit does not detect the presence of Pythium etc.

Provides approximately 150 tests.
